Members of SAO participated in the Digital Pacific Conference 2020 which ran from the 17th to the 19th November 2020.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support of the Australian Government, the conference provided a participatory platform for constructive debates and dialogue on the theme - "Empowering the Pacific: Sustainable Development and Digital Transformation for All."
The current global situation and its challenges re-emphasize the clear takeaway from the conference: the now accelerated uptake of digital solutions, tools and service makes digital transformation necessary, and is the pathway to recovery. Despite challenges in holding a conference in the current environment with local participants and international contributors, most of the key speakers joined virtually. SAO members participated both in person and later virtually.
