The 7th INTOSAI Working Group on Big Data Meeting, held in Cairo, Egypt from September 13th to 15th, 2023, brought together SAIs from around the world to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the era of big data. Audit Director Ah Siu Lin attended as the Samoa Audit Office delegate.
The Working Group on Big Data is a specialized entity established by INTOSAI under Strategic Goal Three: Knowledge Sharing and Services. Comprising experts from SAIs worldwide, its mission is to navigate the complexities of big data and its impact on audit practices, sharing best practices, experiences, and strategies.
At its core, this Working Group is aimed to achieve three key objectives:
- Identify challenges and opportunities
- Summarize the knowledge and experience in the field of big data audit
- Strengthen relevant bilateral and multilateral technical cooperation
SAO was honored to actively participate in this significant gathering, highlighting our commitment to staying at the forefront of audit practices and adapting to the changing audit landscape. The insights gained from this meeting undoubtedly play a pivotal role in enhancing Samoa's audit capabilities and ensuring that they continue to meet international standards.
As the era of big data continues to reshape the landscape of governance and accountability, the work of the INTOSAI Working Group on Big Data remains crucial. This meeting in Cairo was another step forward in the collective journey of SAIs worldwide to harness the power of data, navigate its challenges, and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance.
