The Performance and Environmental Audit (PEA) Division recently had the privilege of hosting Ms. Karen Wong, Performance Audit Manager, and Ms. Marianne Bevan, Senior Performance Auditor, from the Office of the Auditor-General New Zealand (OAG NZ), Performance Audit Practice and Methodology team.

Their visit aimed to coach and assist PEA in designing the audit plan for the Cooperative Audit on Climate Change Adaptation Actions (CCAA), coordinated by the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) in collaboration with the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) and Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI). This joint effort was part of the continuous twinning program between the Samoa Audit Office and OAG NZ that took place from May 5th to May 9th, 2024.

The coaching and assistance provided by Ms. Wong and Ms. Bevan significantly contributed to the development of a stronger and effective audit plan for the CCAA. Their involvement enhances the PEA’s capacity to conduct performance audits related to climate change adaptation, particularly regarding the sustainability of critical infrastructure such as the Vaisigano seawall. The visit also provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and skill-building, strengthening the unit's expertise in environmental auditing.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Karen Wong, Ms. Marianne Bevan and OAG NZ for their continued support. We also extend our gratitude for the ongoing support extended by PASAI and IDI INTOSAI, which has played a crucial role in sustaining and advancing our environmental auditing efforts.
